  So my PIMO Younger Brother Tried To Kill Himself Today

  we all know that this cult will drive those trying to leave to desperate measures, and today by brother was very nearly one of those statistics.

  he slashed his thigh with a kitchen knife and was bleeding out until he called the police.. i got a call on my way home from work from a police officer, coincidentally it was one of my old friends from school who's now a cop.

  he told me my brother is in hospital after an attempted suicide and has lost some blood but will be ok. but i should get to the hospital as he's asking for me.

  Thanks for the update; it's great you were able to talk to the therapist sans JWs present. Those of us who continue to deal with like issues understand. When I was in a life-threatening situation, the thought conveyed to me by family was not preserving the present life but seeking everlasting life. It was then I regretted "bringing" my family into The Truth.

  Where will you make a notation for the placement?

  Yeah, emperor -- I just now posted the above on the Steve Vai thread, but I was not so charitable. Perhaps I am wrong. I was just so put off by the whole thing that I didn't give the soloist his due.

  i posted on the gilead song thread, where a tune of unimpeachable wholesomeness was wafting through the fetid air of my chamber.

  if you can get through the annoying vehicle ad, the famous scene from the film crossroads will turn you off forever to saccharine, gagacious music.. happy listening .

  Difficult to internalize that all the connections are gone

  i was in my old stomping ground a couple of months ago and happened to be walking past the home of an old family friend.

  word is in the hall that i used to go to is that "i am one of them" meaning apostate.

  no one from my old hall has contacted me to find out what happened.

  I started reaching out to my mom JW family and it has been great getting to know them after all this time. -- truthseeker

  What's ironic, truthseeker, is that for many of us the non-JW family welcomes us back, and this despite many years with little or no contact. Apart from the typical dysfunction of any family, the unreasonable control over your associates as a JW just doesn't exist in "normal" families.

  Pull the Plug Already...

  after reading and seeing so many detailings of the dealings with people in this religion, i have to wonder how to get people who are just extremely asleep.

  reasoning doesn't seem like it works, there needs to be some kind of plug pull event, like the leaders doing something so uterly stupid that it causes the immediate downfall of the entire religion.

  but because i am naturally curious i want to know from people who have more experience with jw structure why they seem to have a resistance to an event like this?
